Signe Førre is a Norwegian double bassist, singer, and composer known for her innovative approach to music. Her jazz and folk music album FAGERT on Grammy-winning label Ta:lik Records, features her own compositions and arrangements of multi cultural folk music from Norway and Balkan countries, showcasing her ability to blend diverse musical traditions into a cohesive sound. Through her unique interpretations, Signe brings new life to these timeless melodies bridging cultures and inviting listeners to explore the richness of global folk music and jazz music. With each note, she creates a sound that reflects her passion for tradition and  creativity.

 

​Signe Førre has played concerts in big cities such as Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger and at several Music Festivals such as Vossa Jazz in Voss, Varangerfestivalen in Vadsø, Hilmarfestivalen in Steinkjer etc. She has played at all regions of Norway and will play at international Jazz Festivals in countries in Asia next year with her band Signe Førre Kvartett in 2027, representing Norwegian ethno jazz.

 

Signe Førre is both a jazz musician as well as a folk musician and combine these genres in her concerts. Førre has played with great musicians like Andy Sheppard, Tineke Postma, Marius Neset, Laura Jurd, Nubya Garcia, Torbjørn Økland, Håkon Mjåset Johansen, Eivind Austad, Jo Asgeir Lie, Kåre Opheim, Irene Tillung, Stein Inge Brækhus etc. 

On her debut album FAGERT she is joined by Torbjørn Økland on guitars, bouzouki, mandolin and trumpet, Jo Asgeir Lie on accordion, and Kåre Opheim on drums and percussion. Her composition Galápagos is on rotation weekly on the Norwegian national radio channel NRK Jazz for over a year now, and two tracks from FAGERT is now on rotation on Norways national radio station on the channel NRK Folkemusikk.

 

The Norwegian Minister of Culture and Equality Lubna Jaffery heard Signe Førre Kvartett live at Kvemmadokkje Festival in Ulvik last summer, and on an interview on National Radio channel NRK P2 she chose Signe Førre and song "Fagert i Finnesloftet" as her new favorites, when asked about 3 artist and sogns to recommend.  

Signe Førre loves learning languages and speaks English and German fluently. She also speaks Serbian and Spanish. 

Her passion is music, learning languages and traveling!
